Dedicated to the memory of Lance Vincent Waumsley
Passed away on 5th January 2021 a few days after a devastating fall at his home in Salem, Oregon, USA, aged 73 years.
Beloved husband of Sherrie, stepfather of Jace, Lyssa and Brent, brother of Penny, Jilly and Adrian and uncle of Netty and James.
Born in Penang, Malaysia on 30.07.1947 to Leslie and Cecilia Waumsley, Lance was raised in Malaysia and later near Stroud in Gloucestershire. Educated at Wycliffe College, Gloucestershire and Selwyn College, University of Cambridge, he followed a successful career in the Law culminating in his appointment to the Judiciary as a Judge of the Upper Tribunal (Immigration & Asylum Chamber), retiring in 2012. He was a co-founder of the Dead Comics' Society and maintained a lifelong interest in genealogy.
He will be greatly missed by family and friends. A funeral will take place in Salem and it is then hoped to hold a Memorial Service in England later in the year. Further details will be posted on this site.

Thoughts
I was very sorry to hear about Lance’s untimely demise. We were in School house together but, as well as this, we knew each other outside term time as we both lived in the same area, Lance lived in Rodborough and I lived in Minchinhampton. We lost touch when our ways separated going to university.
My condolences go to his family in the USA and his three siblings.

Devastated to have lost my beloved brother. Just can't believe that I will never see him again. Have so many memories of growing up with him. I will miss him more than I can say. RIP

I have very happy memories of working with Lance at Kidd Rapinet Solicitors. He was a good man, a good lawyer and a good friend, with a great sense of humour. My deepest sympathy to his family.
