I remember Lance from school days and beyond.  One makes friendships that last and some that fail, I  remember Lance at school as a friend with genuine interest in what you were doing and always a helpful word or smile. James who has contributed, was also a great friend and some years after leaving I remember meeting Jim(James) at the Bear at Rodborough and who should turn up but Lance.  Later in  1996 I think it must have been , when I was Master of the O.W. Lodge I contacted Lance, who was then in Chambers or whatever the correct words are - in London - and he came back for a few years and we worked together with him, he taking the Masters Chair in 2002 I think it was.

A good friend so sadly missed.
